How to Use Windows Server 2008's 'Delayed Start' Feature

Apps and services that all try to "crash" the server during startup can create headaches aplenty for IT admins. That's why Windows Server 2008 now offers a Delayed Start option for Windows services.

Over at ZDNet Asia, IT guru Rick Vanover explains how to use Delayed Start and what it can do for you. Here's an excerpt:

The Delayed Start configuration operates to ease the strain of the boot process; it can also be a boon to administrators who wish to configure applications for tiered startup for sequencing control. The Delayed Start is configured for a service in a familiar fashion.

Vanover gives a quick overview of the feature, then steers you to a much more detailed TechNet article on the subject.

Check it out, then have a happy and safe Thanksgiving (those of you who celebrate it, that is). See you Monday!
