Windows 7 SP1: Why You Shouldn't Wait
Historically, enterprises wait for at least one Service Pack before migrating to the next version of Windows--and with good reason. But is that really necessary this time? eWeek says no, and in fact offers 10 reasons why you shouldn't wait for Windows 7 SP1. Here's one excellent example: Windows 7 is quite secure The author also points to Windows 7's XP Mode, which effectively makes the OS as "trustworthy" as XP, and the fact that SP1 is likely to be a small update--not a mammoth one like previous Service Packs. Frankly, we couldn't agree more with this sentiment, even if a few of the 10 reasons strike a hollow chord. ("It's not Vista"? Please, let's not beat that dead horse again.) What do you think? Does your organization insist on waiting for SP1, or do you think Windows 7 get enough field-testing and updating during the beta and RC stages? |
