Why Energy Companies Are 'Amped' About Windows 7
On the other hand, there's something very enlightening (see, we can hang with the bad-pun crowd) about four major utilities that have adopted Windows 7--and recognized tangible benefits from it. The Moscow Integrated Power Company, for instance, cites increased employee productivity, while Statoil is enjoying faster access to files from branch locations (thanks to BranchCache). The Public Power Corporation, meanwhile, expects to reduce IT costs, as noted in this excerpt: "With Windows 7, we will gain better, centralized control over all our computers so that we can better serve users while maintaining an up-to-date and secure environment," Head of Office Systems in the PPC Information Technology department, Ioannis Symeonidis, says. "We expect to cut our desktop deployment time, and costs, by one-third and thus increase by 50 percent the number of PCs deployed each day." Pretty compelling, wouldn't you say? The post includes links to the full case studies for each of the four companies--some enlightening reading, indeed. Meanwhile, find out why SMBs are flocking to Windows 7 and how Windows 7 aids the retail space.. |

Great article! Thanks for sharing.
Yes, it's really cool to see how companies are benefiting from Windows 7, and I find it cool that energy companies will be indeed saving energy thanks to the improvements in Windows power management.
Of course all the costs savings from other features are great too and everyone loves more productivity!
