What are Your OS Plans for 2010?
We've spent the better part of 2009 offering tips and advice with regards to OS migrations. Windows XP isn't doing large organizations any favors, our reasoning goes, so it's high time to start moving to Vista, Windows 7, and/or Windows Server 2008 R2. Now that the year is coming to a close, many organizations have no doubt made some decisions about what will happen, OS-wise, in 2010. And that's why we created this poll. Are you pulling the trigger on Windows 7? Staying put for the duration? Still on the fence? Choose one or more responses below and let us know what you're doing--and, if you're in a commenting mood--why. |

We have set up a demonstration project for thin clients and converted servers already. We are going to GNU/Linux immediately on existing hardware and in next budget on new thin clients. We are tired of fighting malware and having machines slow down or freeze. All database operations are moving to web applications and we will use OpenOffice.org for most documents. We can run with any OS so we choose GNU/Linux as the lowest-cost, and most reliable option. The last choice we would make would be to choose another OS from the same company that sold us a lemon.
