Microsoft Offers Windows 7, Office 2007 Discounts to SMBs
Still clinging to Windows XP because of the costs involved in migrating to Windows 7? Time to redo the math. Microsoft just unveiled a new program aimed at weaning businesses off XP: a 50-percent discount on the first-year software license for Windows 7 Professional and Office 2007 Professional. You'll need to read the full description on Microsoft's SMB Community Blog for exact details, but the Open Value Subscription N-2 promo means that any organization currently using products at least two generations old (i.e. Windows XP and Office XP) qualify for the 50-percent savings. No time to wade through that decidedly confusing post? Here's a three-minute video that offers a simple overview of the OVS program: Suffice it to say, this is an amazing deal for SMBs that have been avoiding a Windows 7 (and/or Office 2007) upgrade solely because of licensing costs. What do you think? Does this change your migration plans? Or are the costs of making a move still too high for your organization? Share your thoughts in the comments. |
