Get a Free E-Book on Deploying Windows 7

Deploying Windows 7.jpgA couple weeks ago we talked up Windows 7 Resource Kit, a new book that helps IT pros with OS deployment, configuration, and management.

To paraphrase the old saying, why buy the dead-tree edition when you get the e-book for free? Specifically, Microsoft is offering an e-book--Deploying Windows 7: Essential Guidance from the Windows 7 Resource Kit and TechNet Magazine--that contains big chunks of the paper version along with plenty of good content from TechNet.

Part 1 of the 6.5MB PDF, which spans 332 pages, includes chapters 3-12 of the print edition. Topics include Testing Application Compatibility, Migrating User State Data, and Using Volume Activation.

Part 2 features six killer TechNet articles, including "8 Common Issues in Windows 7 Migrations" and "Integrating Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2."

And did we mention the book is free? This is absolutely a must-have reference for anyone managing OS deployment from the CIO level or actually deploying it from the IT trenches.

While you're at it, check out these other book freebies:
