Compare XP, Vista, and Windows 7 Features Side-by-Side

Ever wonder what Windows Vista has that XP doesn't? Or how Windows 7 improves on both? Sure, you can head over to Windows.com to see a comparison of the different versions of each individual OS, but rarely do we get to see the three stacked up side-by-side--and rarer still from an IT perspective.

That's the idea behind Windows Client Feature Comparison: Windows XP SP3 | Windows Vista SP1 | Windows 7. This free PDF lists several dozen features across categories like Security & Compliance, Management, and Deployment, and shows you if they're present (and/or improved) in each of the three operating systems.

Suppose, for example, you want to know about Granular Audits. A quick glance at the chart shows that the feature doesn't exist in XP SP3. It does appear in Vista SP1, and it's improved in Windows 7. How handy is that!

The PDF is free to download, of course, though you do need a Windows Live ID or Microsoft TechNet account.
