Cloud Computing: The Other Migration White-Meat
Here at MEZ, most of the discussion centers around migration--to Windows 7, to Windows Server 2008 R2, and so on. But there's another piece of the migration pie that's worth discussing, if not digesting: migration to the cloud. Over at TechRepublic, there's an interesting read on the subject from book author and IT consultant Rick Freedman: Cloud computing migration issues: What you need to know. Though aimed more at IT consultants than IT managers, it's an informative take on what's happening in enterprise/cloud space. Here's an excerpt: Most firms that migrate to the cloud do so in a hybrid model, keeping certain key elements of their infrastructure in-house and under their direct control, while outsourcing less sensitive or core components. Integrating internal and external infrastructures can be a technical quagmire. Give it a look, then share your thoughts on cloud computing and how it might affect your enterprise--now and in the future. |
