Five Reasons to Upgrade to Vista SP2

Vista logo.jpgThis sounds like one of those insert-your-own-joke-here setups--which may be why Steven J. Vaughan-Nichols swung at the easy pitch in authoring The Five Best Things About Vista SP2. We won't spoil his opening, which is certainly good for a chuckle.

Thankfully, he goes on to say that while there's nothing earth-shattering about Vista's latest (and, most likely, last) Service Pack, there are five compelling reasons users should adopt it. Here's number two:

Vista SP2 now supports Bluetooth v2.1 and has more stable Wi-Fi protocol. In particular, this shows up, I found, that Vista is much better are resuming a Wi-Fi connection after going to sleep. If you're having Wi-Fi trouble with your Vista laptop, this is reason enough to give SP2 a try.

Hey, it's a minor improvement, but one that could result in fewer calls to the IT department. Can't argue with that, right?

To Vaughan-Nichols' list of five good things about SP2, we'd like to add a sixth:

6. It exists. With SP2, Vista is officially the most secure and reliable version of Windows available to date. (Windows 7 is looking good, of course, but it hasn't been field-tested for two years like Vista.) Something to consider as you mull your upgrade plans.
