How to Give Vista a Speed Boost

Sure, with the right hardware, Vista performs on par with any XP system--but it could always be a little faster, right? The always-informative folks at Tekzilla show you how one simple tweak can give Vista a nice little performance boost.

The tweak: Turn off Vista's hard drive-churning file indexing. You won't lose the ability to search for files, folders, apps, and whatnot, you just won't get the near-instant results Vista typically delivers. See the above video, which clocks in at a blissfully short 1 minutes, 12 seconds, for the full scoop.

What do you think? Is turning off file indexing a bad idea, or a worthwhile sacrifice in exchange for a speed boost? (Just how much of a speed boost is unknown, but we're guessing it's not monumental.) Leave a comment with your thoughts and opinions.
