Manage Multiple RDP Sessions with Free Microsoft Utility
An essential tool for IT admins, Remote Desktop Connection Manager (RDCMan for short) helps you manage multiple remote desktop connections (or RDCs). It's a Microsoft utility, it's recently updated, and it's free. Over at 4sysops, Michael Pietroforte identifies some of RDCMan's key features and walks you through using them. Here's an excerpt: As the Windows Remote Desktop Connection tool, RDCMan allows you to save credentials. You can do this for each server separately or for a group. However, the free RDP client tool doesn't store the credentials in the Windows 7 Vault. Storing passwords on your desktop is always a risk, but it is certainly more secure to store them with an uncommon tool than with a function that is integrated in Windows. Obviously RDCMan isn't the only RDP client tool in town. Other freebies include RoyalTS and Visionapp Remote Desktop. But I think there's something to be said for "keeping it all in the family," meaning I like to stick with Microsoft stuff for managing other Microsoft stuff. Do you think there's merit to that idea, or do you think I'm just nuts? Either way, hit the comments and tell me about your preferred RDP manager. |
